OpenAMRobot Community & GitHub
OpenAMRobot is developed in the open across a growing set of public repositories for software, firmware, hardware, interfaces, documentation, UI, releases, and manipulation.
Community traction
Our most established repository, openAMRobot/openamr, currently has:
154
Developers and robotics practitioners who starred the original OpenAMR repository.
38
Public forks of the original OpenAMR repository.
These figures are a snapshot of the largest single repository as of 29 August 2026. The OpenAMRobot ecosystem now spans multiple repositories, so organization-wide activity is broader than these two figures alone.
Repository structure
The organization separates responsibilities so contributors can work in the right place without turning one repository into a monolith.
- openamr – original OpenAMR project and historical reference implementation
- openamr-platform-sw – mobile-platform ROS 2 software
- openamr-platform-fw – embedded firmware
- openamr-platform-hw – hardware, electronics, and mechanical sources
- openamrobot-ui – operator and user interface
- openamrobot-interfaces – shared ROS 2 interfaces and contracts
- openamrobot-comm – communication components
- openamrobot-manipulation – manipulation integration
- openamr-upperbody-sw / fw / hw – upper-body software, firmware, and hardware
- openamrobot-docs – central documentation
- openamrobot-release – reproducible release snapshots
- openamrobot-manifest – repository manifest and workspace composition

How to participate
You can contribute by:
- building the platform and reporting reproducibility issues;
- opening issues with clear hardware or software evidence;
- proposing improvements through pull requests;
- improving tutorials and documentation;
- testing releases on real hardware;
- contributing to simulation, perception, manipulation, interfaces, and developer tooling;
- using OpenAMRobot in research, education, or industrial pilots and sharing results with the community.
Before contributing, review the contribution workflow and the repository-specific guidance for the component you plan to change.
Open project, commercial ecosystem
